PARENT
PRAISE: What are parents saying about Remember Daddy/Mommy Keepsake Books?
“I just wanted to tell you I'm
thankful for you and what you're doing. The military life demands so much of the families, especially
since 9/11. And it is hardest for the children. But besides the keepsake books helping
the little ones remember a parent and know they are loved, this helps the soldier come home to one less stress - to have that
little one hug their parent and just be thankful they're back home - awesome! Again, thank you for
your efforts and for your service. God bless. ‑ The Zuber family, Fort Rucker, Alabama
“As a military child, there were plenty of times I was without my father especially for
long stints. And as a scrapbook “junkie” to be able to look back at pictures of my Dad now that he’s gone
is a comfort to me.”
- The McWherter-Smith family, Anchorage, Alaska
“My name is Kendra Jackson and I’m originally from Alaska. My husband is currently
stationed at Tinker Air Force Base with the Air Force. We have a 14 month old daughter. My husband was recently deployed to
Iraq. His biggest fear is the baby not knowing him when he comes back. I think your books are a GREAT idea.”
- The Jackson family, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
“I
saw an article about the daddy keepsake book and think it is a wonderful idea. I have 3 children, ages
5yrs, 3 yrs, and 7 months. Even if funding does not allow that I can have a book like this, I wanted to
say that I think this is a wonderful idea and a great cause. Anything that we can do to help our children
cope with their loved one being going is awesome.” - Joni, Utah
“As I read your recent article in the 30
September edition of the Stars and Stripes paper many thoughts came across my mind. First, was your untiring
sacrifice of serving our country and having to balance the role of Soldier, Wife and Mother. Next were
the questions that surround young toddlers and any questions that they may have of the deployed parent. Will
they remember me? Do they know where I am? Do they feel unloved or abandoned by the
deployed parent? Currently, I am separated from my daughter as I find myself in Korea. I will be away from
her for a little over one year. When my daughter and I were last together were in April 2007 and I will
not see her again until July 2008. Her name is Madison Marie or "Maddie" for short. Thanks for
the opportunity to get one of these books.” - CPT Fabia, Korea
“My name is Gary Wallace. I am a Police Sergeant in Middletown, CT and
I just read about your keepsake book in our local paper. I served in the US Navy between 1987-91 and was
deployed during the first Persian Gulf conflict. What a great idea you came up with for you and your family.
At the time, I did not have any children, but obviously many others did. I just remember back then
upon returning from overseas, how so many sailors talked about it being so difficult to regain their places in the home.
An idea such as yours would have helped so many. On another note, I am an African American and a
single father. It is so nice to read about a positive story involving people of color and our children.
I believe that you are touching the lives of people in such a way that you may never even come to realize.
Keep up the good work and may God bless you and keep you safe.”
- Your friend in Connecticut-
Sergeant Gary Wallace
“Thank you so much for the keepsake
books. My children LOVE them! I am sorry I did not write sooner to let you know that I had picked up the books - it seems
my husband is on his way home, so I have been frantically trying to get ready. I know my husband will appreciate the books
also.”
- The Montanez family,
Fort Richardson, Alaska
